A little bohemian, a little chic.

Valentino Fall 2014 RTW

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

I feel like I say this a lot, but I am completely head over heels for this collection.  The structures, the silhouettes, the tulle, the lace, the floral.... I could go on and on. This show is everything in one- old and new trends, seamlessly blended together in the classiest ways.  It's delicate and sensual, with strong elements of nature and the Victorian Era shining through. The floral on some of the dresses remind me of the fabric of my grandmother's old furniture, but it works strangely well for this collection and is the perfect way to use florals in the fall. It's heavier than springtime florals, but beautiful and feminine all the same.

You can see many current and upcoming trends encased in each of the looks, which Valentino made look effortless (Chiffon + lace are always a great combination! ) Even though many of longer dresses are not very form-fitting, they are perfectly tailored to accentuate the female body's curves and lines. The floor sweeping pieces have the most beautiful lace and tulle detailing towards the bottom, while the shorter pieces draw attention to the eccentric prints and peter pan collars and short hemlines.  The silhouettes are neat and structured where they need to be, and loose and billowy in all of the right places. (Chiffon maxi dresses cinched at the waist with plunging necklines and sheer sleeves/ boxy A-line mini dresses that accentuate the legs) In all, this is such a solid show!

(PS. I'm still getting the hang of these collection reviews, so they may seem a little scatterbrained, but stick with me! Also, feedback is always appreciated!)
